After retiring as an elementary art teacher, I began searching — and painting — for a true purpose in my own mark making.
I am an artist primarily working in an abstract contemporary style. My work consists mostly in expressionism and intuition. I become very excited by the process: mark-making, along with layers of color, cold wax, and texture.
My process is primarily instinctive, using many different tools and materials, which allows more risk taking to happen in my paintings. I search for more expressiveness and emotion rather than the literal truth in my context of painting. Every painting is a mystery in the beginning, and then is revealed in the end.
"For me the unknowns of the process make for a journey of self discovery and a more meaningful painting experience."
